Wanted: volunteer to digitize remaining O'Reilly ETCON talks.
So, having already got the audio keynotes from O'Reilly's Emerging Technology conference up on the Conference Proceedings collection
, thanks to the wonderful people at O'Reilly and IT Conversations, we're in the position to post the other sessions from that particular conference, many of them fascinating - check out the conference page:
..for more information - there's some really cool speakers in there.
However, we're looking for a volunteer to help us get them online, by digitizing and uploading the collections to the Internet Archive.
From what we've been told, the lectures (about 40-50 lectures in all, each around an hour long), are available on a small amount of VHS tapes (apparently a good medium for storing audio) - so what we're after is someone with a little spare time to take delivery of the VHS tapes, make WAV versions of each lecture and upload them to Archive.org (or burn DVDs if you prefer!) You'll be fully credited as part of the collection, and will be helping store the audio for posterity - the digitizing can be done over a few weeks, as long as it all gets done in the end.
If you're interested, and have the right hardware/spare time, please email me at simon at archive dot org.
